Kulturinstitutionen Husets Forlag (1972-2003) opstod i et samspil mellem samfundsengagerede yngre mennesker og et positivt indstillet kommunalt styre. Kommunen etablerede rammerne og økonomien for kulturhuset ”[[HUSET]]” i den tidligere [[Aarhus Museum|museumsbygning]], hvor musikstederne [[Voxhall]] og [[Atlas]] i dag (2020) ligger. <br />

Mange forskellige aktiviteter blev sat i gang, der blev indrettet værksteder, og der opstod et forlag, ”Husets Forlag”, som blev et frodigt ordværksted. <br />
<br />
Husets Forlag var en smeltedigel for sprudlende og idérige forfattere, oversættere, kunstnere og aktivister med forlagsleder Carsten Koed Hansen som primus motor. Flere i dag etablerede forfattere fik deres debut på Husets Forlag.</div>
