Gift 1888 med Caroline Emilie Birgitte Langhoff (1861-1925).<br /> <br /> Blev cand.jur. 1878. Blev herefter ansat i Landbrugsministeriet og blev kontorchef i Ministeriet for offentlige arbejder. Var fuldmægtig på Sjællands bispekontor. I 1903 blev han amtmand i Ringkøbing. <br /> <br /> Fra 1. november 1915 stiftamtmand for Aarhus og Skanderborg amter.
